Google Gets Related Searches In The Golden Triangle

by Jonah Stein on March 29, 2008

I spotted another interest UI tweak from Google, as they finally put Related Searches at the top of the Golden Triangle. We have seen these sneaking into the bottom of the SERP for a while and it was only a matter of time before the show up on top.

Does this mean the mighty G has decided that disambiguation is a better guide to user intent than ESP?

This is interesting given what’s going on in the search engine landscape right now. SearchMe has a categories feature so that you can peg down exactly what you are searching for, and now Google has added this right to the top. It can be construed as a sort of response to what SearchMe has done. Not that they view SearchMe as a threat, but I think they at least raised an eyebrow when they saw SearchMe finally open their beta at the end of March.
